Platform: Mobile
Roles: Creative Director, Lead Game Designer, UX/UI Designer
Additional: UI Visuals, UI Effects & Animations
I was in the role of Creative Director & Lead Designer on the Rugby Nations titles from the first Rugby Nations game developed through to Rugby Nations 18. I had to make sure the visuals and animations (motion capture) were of a high quality, that the game mechanics and gameplay were strong. Ultimately delivering a Rugby Union game that fans could relate to and enjoy.
From Rugby 16 onward I was also responsible for designing and creating the UI/UX components of the game in Unity, including any animations. The artist would provide any assets required for the UI.
For the motion capture used in the game I worked with the artist and producer to create a list of moves required for the game and then the shoot was done at Centroid, Pinewood Studios. I, the artist, and Producer went to direct the motion capture session.
Within the later versions of the games, we had LIVE GAMES. This is where Players joined others to compete in regular LIVE GAMES. Earn points for the team of their choice and lead them to victory. I had to arrange the scheduling of these fixtures; start, end, which teams etc.
I was also responsible for a considerable amount of social media posts, either around the Live Games or just Rugby news in general that we could link to the game.
